Zack Snyder to direct next Superman film

http://heatvision.hollywoodreporter....medium=twitter

Nolan and Zack Snyder, definitely an interesting team. There are already rumors now that Zod is going to be the villain.

I have to say I'm excited that it "appears" they aren't going to go totally out of left field and do something stupid and out of character for Superman.

I saw this awful movie tonight. Seriously, just a poorly made film. A jumbled mess of a story heaped together as an excuse to force a love interest way too early on and to make shit blow up.

Spoiler!

I know I'm late to the dead horse beating, but this ****er needs a few more kicks. Garbage.

You are right, NYC/Metropolis is a sparsely populated area full of empty skyscrapers.

The only people we saw during the (short) end fight were on the streets, trying to get out of the city. So is it really out of the realm of possibility that the skyscrapers were empty at that point? Or is the theory that after watching several blocks get flattened by an alien ship, the people of Metropolis just stayed where they were and didn't think there was any reason to not only get out of their skyscrapers, but out of their city.

Yeah, it is totally realistic that not one person would die in an alien attack like that.

If you stayed in a 60 story skyscraper while Zod's ship was over your city, slowly crushing city block by city block, and even then still decided to stay put, then you deserve to die. Jesus people. I never did know the little things in movies that you don't agree with could ruin the whole thing for you.

Warner Bros. Pictures' Man of Steel dropped to third place and lost about 64.7% in ticket sales from its first weekend, a larger percentage than was expected. The Superman movie brought in $41.2 million its second weekend and has earned $210 million after two weeks. Overseas, the Zack Snyder-directed film performed much better in first place with another $89 million for an international total of $188.3 million. Worldwide, the $225 million-budgeted Man of Steel has reached $398.3 million.

I feel like Zack Snyder laid out a delicious cheesecake for me when he making this movie. I mother****ing love Cheesecake, so naturally I was pretty excited, but before I could dig in on this wonderful creation, Zack decided to slater a scoop of subway's tuna on top of the once wonderful cheesecake.

Yes, I know, it's subway and their meat tastes like Dollar General's finest Alpo, but for whatever reason, I have always had a weakness for their Tuna. As much as I love it, however, Tuna on top of cheesecake is a bit excessive and out of place, so naturally I say, "whoa, Zack, the cheesecake was fine as it was."

However, Zack, being the most self-indulgent, overrated style-of-substance chef in the business, says "lemme do ya one better" and puts a pie of Wendy's chili over my tuna-cheesecake sandwich.

Anyways, you get the picture. Somewhere in this movie, underneath the gratuitous flashbacks and over the top effects, existed an origin story that was among the best comic book stories ever created. But Zack went for too much, he went to the all you can eat buffet and attempted to actually eat everything, and it resulted in a chaotic, disoriented mess that was void of secondary character development or a hint of true emotion from the main character. It was a decent watch, sure, but the movie could have been much, much more.

TL;DR: Zack Snyder doesn't know how to tell a coherent story.

I do think they should have done the movie in order and not done it as flashbacks though. Would have flowed better.

I wonder how many people would have died from simply being trampled in a completely disorganized, emergency evacuation from the center of the largest, most populated city on Earth. We even saw the Daily Planet start evacuating and plenty of the people from there were trapped in rubble (and presumably killed). I assume the only reason the streets weren't running red with blood and bodies weren't plummeting from the sky, was because Zack had to get a PG-13. I'm sure that pissed him off.

I really don't understand those complaints about them destroying buildings. Did you also cry when Batman blew up the building in TDKR when carrying the bomb out of the city?

Most of the complaints are about the needless destruction with zero consideration given by the film's hero. I never questioned Batman's commitment to Gotham, because the film made that one of the central themes and it was well developed. I didn't get that commitment or concern from Supes in MoS.

In the Batman series, the destruction had impact. In MoS it was hollow. After the catastrophe he's like "I guess I'll become a reporter now!" Not a second thought was given to the likely millions dead. Sure it'll probably be all over the place in the sequel, but in this movie, it made Superman seem cold. More alien than human, which is a weird place to start the series.

... Is pretty much how I feel overall about MoS.
