Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

At one point the twin bodyguards are killed and then later you see one of them in one of the scenes.
The whole thing to me sucks. I try and purge it from my mind as if it never happened. The Godfather 3 is the Fredo Corleone of the trilogy, except Michael should have let Fredo live, the Godfather 3 should have been shot dead before it hit the screen.

wow blaise, I had no idea you had a penchant for ganster-movies.

Watched "American Psycho" last night; thumbs WAY, WAY up! If you didn't grow up in the 80's, you will never truly relate to this movie.

That Huey Lewis shit had me rollin'; I can think of about 12 people I knew back in the day who seriously needed a "Huey Therapy Session" with a baseball bat.
Bale is awesome.
You said earlier that you missed alot of movies in the 90's. Does that include big-time movies like Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction? If not, then I would say movies like Snatch, A Simple Plan, or True Romance.

I've seen true romance, I think. Micheal Wincott was in it briefly, I believe.

When I was in college I had a job selling electronics. They had all the TV's connected to a VCR (actually it may have been a laserdisc), and the one supervisor would put a movie in and all the TV's would show it for like a month- over and over again. He once put Robin Hood in it and I wanted to choke him to death halfway through the first day.

Waterworld was ghastly, but Robin Hood was decent. No movie with Alan Rickman and Michael Wincott as villains can be discounted.

I watched the DVD "Quarantine" last night, give it 6 Stars. If you liked Cloverfield you'll like this film. Same type premise, a TV reporter (Dexter's sister on that show) is doing a story at a fire station and they follow the crew on a house call that goes bad.

Cloverfield I liked a lot and gave it 8 Stars, Quarantine I was going to give it 7 Stars until the last 20 minutes and dropped it to 6 Stars. The camera work became just too jerky. I had very little problem with Cloverfield shaky camera, and that premise was a small camcorder operated by a non-professional. Quarantine is suppose to be a TV station cameraman operating a professional camera, there was no reason for the unusal amount of jerky images. It actually gave me a headache, but I still would recommend it because it was a good scare.
