Bruce Pearl did it at Tennessee
Steve Fisher did it at San Diego State
Mike Anderson has done it three times alone
Hoiberg did it at Iowa State
Huggins did it at K-State
Tad Boyle did it at Colorado

I can keep going. Point is, you're full of shit.

He wasn't talking about being a ranked team - you inserted that criterion in the argument.

Now? Or in year 2 of the coach righting the ship, which is what was being discussed.

Because many of them WERE ranked.

Tennessee was ranked during year 2 under Pearl and went to the Sweet 16.

San Diego State won 25 games and made the tournament in Year 2 under Fisher. Not sure if they were ranked, as they weren't in the year end poll.

Mike Anderson usually takes 3 years (caused by his unique system, IMO). But he had both Missouri and Arkie ranked in Year 3.

Hoiberg had Iowa State ranked during year 2 and took them to the tournament.

Huggins was only at KSU for one year, but he would have been the head of a ranked team that made the tournament in his second year, had he not left for WVU.

Boyle took Colorado to the tournament in year 2 there, though I'm not sure it was ever a top 25 team.

Do you have any faith that Mizzou will make the right hire this time around?

Mike Alden is no longer making the hires, so that is definitely a helpful factor.

Mack Rhoades also has a strong track record of hires as an AD, going back to his days at Akron.

So, yeah. And honestly, they could hire an actual Tiger as the head coach, and I don't imagine he could be any worse than Kim Anderson.

Yes. I assumed making the top 25 is a reasonable goal for a school that's 34th or whatever in the all time Sagarin rankings. Perhaps I gave MU too much credit, and you're only looking to be .500

Pearl didn't even rebuild, he got a stacked young lineup from Buzz Peterson and won 22 games year 1.

All false.

He's made them respectable, which is about as well as can be done there.

Pearl inherited a senior point guard and a young Chris Lofton. That team BECAME loaded because he immediately signed a top 10 recruiting class (Chism and Ramar Smith headling).

His success in years 2 and beyond was partially about inheriting Lofton (and I believe Jujuan Smith), but more about the talent he brought in himself (Chism and Tyler Smith and Ramar Smith), IMO.

I completely ****ed up the Fisher thing. Thought he landed there in 08 for some reason. What I get for splitting my attention between posting and a conference call.

He DID have SDSU in the NCAAs in Year 3, though.

It's not over.

I think the start of any of the destruction of any thought this team was significantly improved began tonight, though.

Arizona worked the shit out of Mizzou on the PAC-12 network, so no one saw it, at least.

Former USC and Northwestern coach laughed and referred to Missouri as a "debacle" during the halftime show, and I can't even get mad about it ... Because he's right.

I feel conflicted....I sort of hope NCSt beats us by 25 today. Any hope I had for an improving team disappeared embarrassingly vs. Arizona.
