Geno Smith fans roll call

NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):

The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314

WHY GENO SMITH?
If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo:

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388

Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him.

GIF #1:
Spoiler!

GIF #2:
Spoiler!

GIF #3 (My favorite):
Spoiler!

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE?

Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

What's this project bullshit with Smith?

He was a Parade All-American at the QB position in High School. He's a three year starter at the college level in two distinct systems that both featured pro sets. (Sophomore year was an under center specific system, and the Air Raid is a multiple receiver route system that is very similar to what most current pro teams run.) He's shown incredible accuracy to all points on the field to receivers in coverage. He's got a damn near perfect release. He's had a metric shit ton of reps passing the ball in a game situation, including behind a subpar offensive line this season. He's always been a pocket passer versus relying on his legs e.g. Griffin. (Who's already had concussion issues in his rookie season.) Geno has attended the high level QB camps during the off-seasons to further progress his game. The guy is a noted film room junkie as well.

If that's not as ready for the position at the next level than I don't know what is.

You couldn't ask for a guy to be more pro ready at the college level than what Geno Smith currently offers.

The risk with Geno is quite low in terms of the position IMO, and he's got an amazing ceiling for the next level due to his skill set. (I like him as a prospect better than Griffin last year, who was more of a one year wonder in a true spread system who relyed a lot on his legs versus working his receiving progressions - something Smith does quite well.)

That's the guy you take at the QB position. He's a damn near perfect prospect in terms of the position for a team like the Chiefs.

You are right up out of your ****ing mind. He threw in tons of tight spots last weekend against Oklahoma.

You really are ****ing braindead.

Are you on crack?

Have you watched just the three passes in the OP, let alone any of Geno's games from the past three years?

The guy threads the needle into coverage with the receiver in full stride all the freaking time.

If BlackBob were to get injured, I think we would all applaud.

Winston wouldn't, though.

Ha. Well, my original point was, we can massage it all we want but most of his success has been in a very college oriented spread and we are overhyping success he had as a sophomore in a more nfl oriented offense. The adjustment to the nfl will be a much, much bigger one than tyler Wilson or sanchez or stafford. It will be the same as rgIII, but again, rgIII had his legs as a fallback.

Again. I believe he can make that big leap. But it is a bigger leap than most guys we talk about as a top pick.

"Watch the tape!"

That's my favorite BlackBobism. As if that's what we all haven't been doing every time Geno Smith is on national TV. He acts like none of us have watched Geno Smith play outside of one or two games maybe.

If that weren't embarrassing enough, if we actually did go to the tape to see if what BlackBob says is true, we would see that it's outright FALSE. It's like he's playing poker with us, but puts on a really, really terrible bluff face while he's holding his cards in such a way that everybody can see exactly what he has.

That's bullshit.

I know you have the worlds biggest erection for this guy, but if he's not making big improvements and leading this team to wins by year 3 at the latest, you aren't giving him an endless rope. It doesn't take players that can play 3 years to impact the NFL anymore. If he's thrown into the fire immediately, he should be making strides long before year 3.
Year 1: Geno gets a pass, just like Luck is getting a pass from Colts fans. I don't think he'll need that much of a leash, because the guy is a ****ing playmaker. He'll flash just as much as he struggles.

Year 2: Geno gets a pass, but should start to look better. If he falls flat on his face and even regresses in Year 2, then it might be time to call him a flop

Year 3: Geno should be expected to start holding his own dick when he pees. Some expectations must be placed on him. However, if it's apparent that he has "it" after 3 years of being our QB but just needs some more time/help, then fans should continue to be patient with him until he proves to them that he can't cut it.

That's how much patience I'm willing to give him. It's what a #1 overall pick deserves, I think. But very likely it's not going to be what he gets.

What's so unbelievable about what I just said?

Oh, and I would grant that exact same patience to Tyler Wilson, too, if he was the QB we decided to draft

That is ultimate versatility and talent and intelligence.

However, Geno Smith is the ultimate goal.
If Barrett Jones dropped into the 20s, trading up to get him would be a no-brainer, imo.
