That's during a normal timeout.

Coaches often go on the field when one of their players is injured. I've never seen a ref have an issue with that.

According to Ian Rappaport Porter did not have a right to be on the field.

Between Tomlin trying to trip a player last year and the action of two Steelers coaches in this game, the league should take a late round pick from Pitt.

Tobin is basically what Ballard is to the Chiefs. Keep in mind that the Chiefs also have multiple other directors, including a pro scouting director (Will Lewis) and a College scouting director (Marvin Allen). The Bengals have neither of these things.

That's just horrendous. Mike Brown is a ridiculous cheapskate.
I was just responding to your strange statement that they refused to hire a personnel guy. That their organization doesn't mirror the chiefs is not relevant

All of these things were caused by the Bengals actions, not Porter's.
All valid points....and I agree. The Bengals did themselves in and deserve what they got.

But to act like Joey Porter didn't know what he was doing is turning a blind eye.

That clip also proves that Joey Porter had a right to be on the field. He wasn't there randomly as some think. He was there following Brown off the field. Maybe he's talking too much shit while he's doing that. But he doesn't seem to be doing much until Burfict shoves off the coach.

Maybe Porter overreacted to the shove. But he had a right to be where he was. And he is reacting to something, not just randomly walking on the field talking shit.
Like I said, look closer. What you're characterizing as a shove by Burfict is Porter taking Burfict's conciliatory hand off Brown and shoving it away.

Take your attention from Burfict's arm, with the assumption that Burfict is doing something volitional, and look at what Porter is doing with his arms underneath.

Given how woefully understaffed the Bengals' personnel department is compared not only to the Chiefs, but every single NFL team, I don't know what's strange about my statement unless you're nitpicking over words. Hiring one director to run personnel despite having no official GM is basically refusing to hire personnel "guys."

I must be missing something, but I'm not seeing how Porter's at all involved in this incident. His arms look like they're on the side to me. The guy involved looks like the med guy/trainer or whoever he is. And you can't blame him for maybe trying to get Burfict to back off. Burfict had no reason to react the way he did to that.

He is their equivalent of a gm. It's pretty obvious they have people doing those jobs with different titles. You don't really know what you're talking about. The problem with the bengals isn't a lack of talent or the people selecting it. They have lots of it.

My mixup, I meant the old white guy. Point is, Burfict didn't 'strike' anyone. He had his arm flung into someone behind him by someone irritated at his conciliatory gesture.

Porter had a right to be on the field. He was right behind Brown and the coach helping to escort Brown off the field.

As they're walking off the field, Burfict puts his hand on Brown's shoulder. Then he inexcusably shoves off one of the coaches who's helping Brown off the field.

Porter starts talking shit to Burfict after that happens. Then a crowd of Bengals surround him.

Porter's role in this is completely irrelevant. He had a right to be on the field. And the main culprit of this was Burfict who should have been flagged a second time. If not for that, who knows if Porter gets involved.
I completely disagree. First, I'm not sure that Porter is actually allowed on the field legally. Second, he has zero right to get into a huddle with Bengals players. This takes 0% responsibility away from what Burfict and Pacman did, but it's ridiculous that Porter was cursing at those Bengals.

Please read the rule again.

The refs usually don't care because teams don't abuse the rule, but when a coach purposely pushes himself into the OPPOSING TEAM'S huddle to provoke them that is definitely a penalty.

Porter has zero right to be policing other players in the middle of the field. Pacman still should have been thinking about stopping the Steelers from getting a field goal and NOTHING else.
