Luck Not All "THAT"

I'm in agreement with Phil Sims on this one. Luck is good, no doubt there. However, he might not be "all that.' In fact, he looked better last year. He misses far too many wide open receivers for various reasons, but he consistently misses them. I keep waiting for him to take over a big game, and raise the level of play of his teammates, but thus far this season - it hasn't happened. He might have all the tools, but he needs a lot of work. The dude reminds me of Eli Manning. Not bad at all - just not great. Just my take...

He's certainly not the uber mensch that we made him out to be...but I think his upside is still higher than Eli Manning.

Honestly, the way he handled things last night actually upped my opinion of him...on the pick 6 that bounced right off the receiver's chest and instead of throwing a tantrum he went over and reassured the kid. Class.

Yeah, he just couldn't keep up with that high flyin Ducks offense huh? But I still think he'll be a very good pro prospect.

You might be right about his upside being better than Manning. I'm just saying that's who he reminds me of. There is a LOT of pressure on the kid to be great.

I've only seen a couple of games, and while I believe firmly that you need the franchise QB in the NFL, I believe that is not as true in college as in the NFL.

Luck doesn't have the weapons on the outside, the O-line, nor the team speed in any phase of the game to compete with the big boys in college football.

In the NFL the separartion in talent from the best team to the worst team isn't nearly as wide as the separation in college.

So in college a team with more overall talent and team speed can compete and win games, and even championships, with QBs that will never see the field in the NFL.

In the NFL, QB seperates contenders from pretenders, and Luck will be that guy that seprarates his team from pretenders.

You would have had to emphasize "ALL THAT" to make your point. This thread is ruined for me.

Any night. He looks that way all the time. I've seen him play about 6 times this season and he's the same each time. He'll make some good plays, but there are many that you'll just shake your head and dismiss them as just an "isolated bad throw" - until you see him play his next game...

His OL isn't bad at all. They have a few guys that will get drafted. They have a semi-decent power running game that helps open the short passing game for him.

They aren't bad, but they aren't all that good in pass protection, either.

Even in games I haven't watched, the number of times that you read the comments about his ability to escape pressure is numerous.

The times I have watched, it seems he had to move about every 3rd or 4th pass attempt.

His protection is underwhelming.
