Nolan's Batman 3 Title
Batman sequel 'Rises' again
LOS ANGELES - THE next Batman sequel has a title: The Dark Knight Rises. Distributor Warner Bros. confirmed the name for director Christopher Nolan's third adventure about the DC Comics vigilante hero, which follows Batman Begins in 2005 and The Dark Knight in 2008. The Dark Knight Rises is due in theaters July 20, 2012. Bucking Hollywood's current wave of 3-D movies, Nolan is not planning to shoot the film in 3-D. Warner Bros had agreed with Nolan's argument that the sequel should resist the 3-D craze, the director told the Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex blog, which first reported the title. Nolan would not reveal what villain might appear in The Dark Knight Rises, but he said it would not be the Riddler, one of the key bad guys in the comics and past film and TV Batman tales. Earlier this year, Nolan said he would not resurrect the Joker, the cackling villain played by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. Ledger won the supporting-actor Academy Award for the role, a year after he died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. -- AP |

Hey now, I am sure she has spent many hours crafting that laugh... though it is terrible... it gets her attention.

Gordon-Levitt's 'Dark Knight' role revealed
UPDATE: Actor tipped to play Alberto Falcone a.k.a. The Holiday Killer By Jeff Sneider Levitt Levitt Holiday Killer Juno Temple Temple Now that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to reteam with his "Inception" director Christopher Nolan on "The Dark Knight Rises," insiders tell Variety that Gordon-Levitt will play Alberto Falcone, the son of Mafia chieftain Carmine Falcone, the character Tom Wilkinson played in "Batman Begins." Alberto Falcone, who is also known as the Holiday Killer, would bring Nolan's superhero trilogy full circle. The character fits with the helmer's stated desire for continuity and preference to pit Bruce Wayne against "realistic" villains, as opposed to cartoonish nemeses such as Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy, whom Batman battled in Joel Schumacher's 1997 misfire "Batman and Robin." While Nolan has elected to keep fans in the dark -- for now -- it's known that Juno Temple is being eyed for a supporting role as a street-smart Gotham girl. Warner Bros. and reps for both thesps declined to comment on casting and character rumors. Nolan continues to fine-tune the script as the start of production grows closer. The Oscar-nominated filmmaker is also serving as a creative consultant on another WB superhero pic, Zack Snyder's "Superman," which now has Henry Cavill, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane onboard. "The Dark Knight Rises" is scheduled for release on July 20, 2012. Since Gordon-Levitt was first reported last month as being in talks for "Dark Knight," he hasn't signed on for any more projects, and his summer remains wide open. Thesp next stars opposite Natalie Portman in the indie drama "Hesher," which Wrekin Hill will release in April. He'll also be seen alongside Seth Rogen in Jonathan Levine's cancer comedy "50/50," which Summit will release on Sept. 30. Gordon-Levitt recently wrapped David Koepp's thriller "Premium Rush," which Columbia plans to open in January. He's currently filming Rian Johnson's sci-fi pic "Looper," with Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt. Temple, who can now be seen in Jordan Scott's "Cracks" and Gregg Araki's "Kaboom," has two Sundance pics in the can -- Elgin James' "Little Birds" and last year's festival hit "Dirty Girl." She recently wrapped starring roles in the indies "Killer Joe" alongside Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch, as well as "Jack and Diane." In addition, thesp plays Queen Anne in Paul W.S. Anderson's adaptation of "The Three Musketeers" and is gearing up to co-star in indie thriller "A Single Shot." Gordon-Levitt is repped by CAA, while UTA and Troika rep Temple.

God I miss the days when we had no idea what movies were coming or who was going to be in them or what they were going to be about.

ZOMG... what actress could pull off Harley Quinn / Dr. Quinzel? I'm thinking Kate Hudson (though she would need some padding in the titties area) |

yep, Batman gets destroyed by Bane, while he's recuperating Nightwing enters the story to substitute. Very much like the Knightfall story arc with Azrael doing that

So, does that mean that they'll end the Batman series at the 3rd movie? Or will they continue on with a Nightwing movie?

Who knows? an example will be Micheal Myers when John Carpenter wanted him dead he killed him in the second movie and yet the studios somehow brought him back from the dead.

the end IMO, will probably be very much like the Batman Beyond continuity too in where after Nightwing ascends he actually becomes Batman. With Bruce broken, and guiding him from the Batcave in the Barbara Gordon/Oracle vein.

I'd like it to end with 3. I'd rather be left wanting more than wishing they'd stopped while they were ahead.
