2nd Round pick Mitch Morse finally explained!....

This regime hasn't had a 2nd round pick since they arrived in KC. They simply didn't know what to do with the pick and panicked...

In this moment of panic, Reid just blurted out the first name that popped up in his head, as he always has a lineman on his mind at all times. Dorsey, still frozen like a deer staring in to headlights due to having his first ever 2nd round pick as a GM, chose not to dispute this pick.

... thus history was made with another Eric Fisher pick. We went with "upside and potentially" instead of a sure thing.

Morse will be a stud. No worries.

Again, the buzz about Gregory is that he has some kind of mental condition. We aren't just talking about a guy who needs motivation.

I can't figure out who the Chiefs would be targeting there. No way it was Devin Funchess, right?

That's who Carolina selected. If they were trying to get ahead of someone else, Atlanta selected Jalen Collins. Would KC have really gone back to back with press corners?

I guess you could say they were trying to get their ILB, but then why not try to trade up with another team after neither Carolina nor Atlanta took one?

Unless they literally were trying to trade up to take OL and still took one at their original spot. I have no clue, honestly.

Not drafting Gregory was a ****ing stupid move. To get a top-10 talent in the 2nd rd as an insurance policy in case Hali gets injured when Houston ends up playing for some other team is a steal.

Morse was a guy who would have been there in the 4th rd.

Typical Chiefs 2nd rd reach, we've all seen it before.

A top 10 talent at an important position, and yet all 32 teams passed on him.

Yeah, that was a stupid move.

It sounds like there is more than enough reasons why the chiefs didn't draft him.

This is again not an endorsement for the Morse pick. But Gregory looks like he's carrying around an unusual amount of baggage. I can't help but wonder if he's a more talented version of Jonathan Martin.

The part that pisses me off is that there was a LOT of talent that dropped, lots of value picks and the Chiefs didn't take advantage of that. Their draft was really "meh". They had a bunch of picks and could have set the tone for whats the come within the next 4-5 rs for this Chiefs team. I guess we'll see. But our Chiefs draft would look 100x better had it looked like this:

1. CB-Marcus Peters (Washington)
2. OLB-Randy Gregory (Nebraska)
3. WR-Chris Conley (Georgia)
3. OT-TJ Clemmings (Pitt)
4. QB-Brett Hundley (UCLA)
5. DL-Michael Bennett (Ohio St.)
5. CB-Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (Oregon)
6. FS-Gerod Holliman (Louisville)
7. OL-La'El Collins (LSU)

Still think there was too much talent to take Morse in the second round.

I guess nobody's going to address the comment I've made repeatedly that there is a very strong hinting that Gregory has some serious mental issues. As in, diagnosable mental issues. I agree that this draft looks a little suspect, but please stop throwing Randy Gregory's name in the mix.

If he becomes a stud and Morse is off somewhere putting his diploma to use outside of Football in a few years then citing Gregory is very relevant.

Morse is a guy who is going to be starting on this o line, if not this year then next. It boils down to us getting an early starter out of a 2nd round pick.

For **** sakes quit yer bitching because they didn't go after Jovan v.2.

First of all, nobody on CP (even those who hated the pick... myself included) think Morse is going to bust. He's a safe pick and probably will be a quality starter

Secondly, sure, Gregory has a chance to do very well. But 32 teams did their homework on him and decided his risk was not worth the reward. He's not just high risk/high reward. He is high reward with an extraordinarily high risk. Justin Houston / Marcus Peters risk times 100. Most teams didn't want to take that chance and it's hard to blame them.

Nope.

It seems like some of you guys have selective memories.

The Chiefs offensive line was a dumpster fire and they lost their best offensive lineman to the Raiders. They desperately needed talent infusion although I believe Morse will be a right guard, just as long as Kush doesn't suck.
