Chiefs Alternate History Madden Franchise: Can Joe Montana take KC back to the SB?

Return of Mals: Joe Montana Edition

Downloaded a 1993 NFL Roster updated for Madden 17 last night.

All teams and players are edited to reflect their 1993 counterparts. Steve Young, Troy Aikman, Warren Moon and JOE MONTANA are all on this roster along with every other starter AND backup from 1993. This roster is so accurate it has Andre Ware on the Lions. Titans serve as the Oilers, Texans and Jags are full of generic assholes.

Chiefs have Joe, Marcus, DT, Smith, Carter, etc. Whoever did this is a genious and even got the player equipment right. Faces are computer-generated and coaches are wrong, but can't have everything.

The goal: get the Chiefs back in the SB with Montana at starting QB. Franchise will run until Joe retires. Not allowed to switch QBs.

LET'S DO THIS!

So the Chiefs are 8-6 going into week 16, scratching to hang on to a wild card spot.

The realism of this game is ****ing staggering.

IRL they were 10-4, but the QB didn't have to learn a brand new playbook.

Also, even if I win out, it looks like I could still miss the playoffs. The Steelers and Colts are 8-6, and while I have the tiebreaker over PIT, Jack ****ing Trudeau pulling a John Elway on me granted them a tiebreaker over me.

Does anyone have a list of 1994 NFL free agents, BTW?

I'm prepping for the offseason and editing some contract lengths as they aren't accurate.

Strong I PA TE Corner (EDIT: looks like that's a Weak I; odd little wrinkle on that play but still the same play). Been running that play in Madden for years and it's never not worked out. I don't usually include the roll-out because it dicks up the angle on the 9 route if it clears.

Just saying that Rodgers puts that one deep. Stay in the pocket and the Z receiver had inside position on a bullet pass to the inside shoulder. Even when you're patting yourself on the back, you're leaving yards on the field.

It's okay, Alice. Some day you'll figure out the playbook and get the help you need on the OL.

Nice job breaking smellways back, but lets be honest... that play action throw to the TE?

Smiff throws that to Kelce all the time...

Mmmm...no way I'm throwing deep there with the TE wide open and Atwater lurking, considering the WR I'd be throwing deep to. Especially not on 2nd and 7 in a close game. That was easy money.

Give me some credit for passing up the easy dumpoff.

That's my offense. You think these receivers and OL are getting big gains trying to play like the 99 Rams?

And forget about the receivers holding on to the ball if anyone hits them. They need space to catch and run. I actually had two 15-20 yard gains wiped out in the Broncos game because Barnett and Davis couldn't hang on to the football on perfectly placed post patterns.

I'm lucky as hell that straight drop back passing worked against the Oilers. Their defensive line was mauling the shit out of my OL.

I think I'm just going to force a win for whoever's playing the Colts in Week 17.

This isn't a long-term experiment (though a Bono trade is going through in 1994), and I want to play at least one of the HOF QBs in the playoffs. Plus, that Trudeau ****ing after an onside kick was straight up ****ing comeback code bullshit.

I still have to win to get in so it's somewhat fair.

hard to explain that pass bouncing off Cash' head down on the goal line, pretty sure that has NEVER happened to me in Madden... weird

Cash was no all-star but he was certainly better than that
