The Kansas City Chiefs are seeking to move out from the No. 1 overall spot in the NFL Draft regardless if they acquire a quarterback via trade, according to multiple league executives.

There might be teams interested. But if they Chiefs intend to take him, we'll never hear about it.

1) If you have a starting QB, draft BPA.
2) If you don't have a starting QB, draft a QB.

That's it, end of story.

What value?

Is he worth the #1 pick? Why yes, yes he is.

Take him and shut up about it.

All that goes to the wayside if you don't have a Franchise QB. If you have the 1st pick in the draft and you don't have the QB you indentify the best QB in the draft and draft him. This is what's killing me about Mayock. It's his philosophy but this year we should take a OT.

KC said they are open to talks about trading down. If Smith is one of the best prospects in years then there will be talk because all of those other QB hungry teams would want to get out the word that they tried or are trying to land him.

The difference is that I've been in the trenches for nearly a decade, every draft season, and I vividly recall most discussions.

2009 was all about whether we should take Sanchez. There was absolutely no discussion about Stafford because everybody knew the Lions would have to be crazy not to take him.

Then explain what Mayock, McShay and Kiper said in that quote?

Stafford has the strongest arm in the league, almost certainly. He also had multiple years playing at a very good level against the toughest defenses the SEC had to offer. In his final year, he was extremely impressive.

Geno Smith has never been extremely impressive. He's very up and down, which hopefully our coaches could correct. He has extremely impressive tools, and he seems like a good guy, but his on the field product is much, much worse than Stafford's was, and against weaker defenses.

Edit: It's also worth noting that Geno was playing with multiple NFL caliber receivers. Tavon Austin is probably a first rounder. To my knowledge, Stafford did not have that.

WE all knew that they would take Stafford. Because we're not stupid.

The talking heads did the same thing they're doing now - exploring everybody other than Stafford, right up till the point that the Lions took him.

The Lions are going to have all the best players in if they're at #1. That's due dilligence.
