You can't move everybody willy-nilly (e.g., CB to NT or QB to G) but you can line people up in other positions that are reasonable moves.

Does that mean I can logically line up an aging CB at FS?

Sure. Just recognize that he's better when he plays CB than when you move him, but if he's good he can move and still be good.

He's an ESTABLISHED FS, and will make his career out of being a FS most likely. He's already done so for the past two seasons. In Sandbox, however, he's still a SS. Will I still suffer the "penalty" of having him play FS when he's listed as something different? |

The Seattle Undertakers are proud to announce they have resigned Kicker Matt Bryant and Nose Tackle Sione Pouha to 5 year deals.

That's why his 2012 listing was at SS. His 2013 listing will likely be at SS as I believe he's been moved back to SS with Crocker being released. The positions are set based on where the player played most in 2012. Robert Turner started the season at G and ended the season at G but in the middle played at C due to injury. He had more starts/snaps at C (even if he was intended to play G) and as such, was listed as a C this season. Remember, there's a fantasy element to this as well - your 2013 Sandbox season will depend in very large part on the performance of those individual players - including where they played - in the 2013 NFL season.

Ah, see, that explains it a bit better.
From what I've heard and seen (on the depth chart), the Bengals are starting Iloka at SS and Nelson at FS this year, so it would benefit me to play him at FS because the Bengals are doing it. Problem solved. |

I've felt it's a little bit of an inversion from the real NFL in that regard. For instance, where I running a real NFL squad, I think I'd be well served to flip to a 4-3 because the rush to the 3-4 has put guys like 5-techs and true NTs at something of a premium. Standard "zig when others zag" kinda thing... But in Sandbox, you're best served to have your defense be the same that most NFL teams are running because you'd have the biggest pool of players that can slot into your position slots. I'm still going to run a 4-3 because I'm stubborn like that, but with so NFL teams running a 3-4 each year, there are a bunch of 3-4 guys available to fit into Sandbox 3-4 defenses because that's how they'll be classified.

So do the stats only count if you start them at the position that they actually play?

Also, if you draft a guy who had 3 catches all year, but they were for 240 yards and 3 touchdowns, don't expect him to be unstoppable. We have algorithms to account for outlier performances produced by small amounts of play.

Because if that guys involved, you can have him throw 55 passes and they'll be as effective as the 18 he'd have thrown in real life. Alex D. Smith defies all sample size issues in Sandbox.

With him, the model clearly shows that he's the best quarterback in pro football and merely needs the opportunity to scale up.

I guess the Saints probably would've realized that had Sean Peyton not been suspended. I blame Goodell.
