Grits

I know they are very common in the South but feel they are an underrated breakfast food.

Tough to beat some cheese grits and bacon.

Feel free to proclaim your love for grits in this thread and this thread only. If you find that you don't like grits or have something unpleasant to say about grits please exit this thread immediately.

TIA

Looked for grits at the store. All I found were Quaker Oats instant, and a generic Hominy. I'll continue the search for stone ground...

dude, real properly made grits are the bomb.

I don't necessarily know how to make them properly, but whatever they do to them in the south is awesome. I've had them in Mobile, AL and Pensacola, FL and they were kick ass.

I've had them up here in KC, and while they weren't awful, they didn't make me loose my shit like they did down there.

This love affair with steel cut has got to go. When I was a kid everything was steel cut oats. It was so much better when instant came along and you didnt have to start boiling them 30 minutes in advance. Steel cut oats taste to oatie and I am sure steel cut grits taste to gritty. Shits and Grits rhyme i see a pattern here.

You won't find shit in the midwest.

The Quaker Oats butter aren't bad, but avoid the other flavors like the plague.

Could not disagree more. Instant oats and grits suck ass. Steel cut are far superior, even if they take a little longer to cook.
