Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon? Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? Part 2: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=293623 Last edited by Bearcat; 07-28-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

Does anyone own or have a Magnum Research Desert Eagle 1911?
My dealer wants 790 for a brand new one, which I know is a great deal. Any info on this pistol? I own a S&W 1911 and love it. The DE will be a gift. |

I'm told that we now have all the components needed to reload .223.
Just waiting for our gunsmith to come over and help us with the initial setup. Apparently it's significantly more involved than reloading pistol ammo. |

My process for .223 on my Dillon 650 is two stages. On the first tool head, I have a decapping/resizing die in station one and in station three I have a Dillion 1200b Rapid Trim. The Rapid Trim actually does the resizing. I have the other die set up only to decap really. Tool head #2 has the powder die in station 2, bullet seater in station 3. I have a factory crimp die that I could put in station 4, but I've never used it. My .223 process:
I HIGHLY recommend the Rapid Trim and the Super Swager 600. They are not cheap, and it will feel like you are just throwing money at it, but goddamn those things work so good. I HATE trimming cases. All of the ways to do it, that do not include either a Giraud, Gracey, or Dillon Rapid Trim are annoying, tedious, imperfect, and irritating. I've tried using an RCBS rotary trimmer, the cheap Lee trimmers, and other hand methods. I even tried a lathe once. They are all workable, but if you are loading .223 in bulk - and if you have a Dillon 650, you should be - it is just too much work. They work fine if you are making a batch of 20 hunting rounds for the season, but if you are making a thousand, they are torture devices. |

Now where's wickedson when you need him? I'm sure he's an expert at prepping and lubricating thin objects under 3".

I use Pam cooking spray to lubricate. My first time out I used to much lub & was crushing the neck. Now I just put a bunch on a cookie sheet & spray them with Pam. fast simple lil to no mess

I'd like to give reloading a go one of these days. Though, I don't own a rifle, and I'm not sure how long it would take to get an ROI loading 9mm. I do, however, want a 1911 badly, so .45 would go as well.
dunno. I guess with prices the way they are, and will probalby not decrease by all that much going forward, it might be somthing to pursue. dunno.
