I was pretty impressed in the Pats playoff game when Sutton (like an idiot) was only rushing three guys (Ford-Poe-an injured decoy Hali) that Ford was like the sole pass rusher and only pass rusher. They put a lot of responsibility on Ford to do that in Suttons stupid idiot scheme of playing 750 contain safeties

TJ Carpenter had a good interview with Dee Ford yesterday and it really opened up to what was going on with him in his career here. Here's some tidbits:
-he was too ambitious and worked out too much. Being in the gym 3x a day trying to get stronger wore his body out and made it harder for him. Noted that working out on Thursday's for a Saturday game in college was stupid and it affected performance. When he was drafted he did the same thing BC he wanted to impress and it was the wrong path. -resting his body was a big emphasis. Kinda goes towards the first point. He was doing too much and not resting your body will hurt you in the 2nd half of a season. Tamba is a prime example of this and I bet he was the one who spoke to him about it. -He's worked very hard on functional strength instead of heavy lifting. His example was about a guy being able to impress people by curling 200 lbs but then not being able to do very many pull up's. -He's worked with Tamba a lot with hand technique this offseason and thinks it's made him a lot better.

I hope he's added lower body strength in addition to that upper body.
He needs that more than the upper to be a really effective every down player.

I don't see what is the big deal. He looks to me as though he doesn't like being the center of attention. His constant rubbing was just one of those nervous ticks. Hey, it's better than those guys that say "you know" every other sentence during interviews.
That dude is ripped. Hopefully, that means added strength this year combined with improvement with technique. If those things happen, I can see Ford having a big year.

Wore shirt to show off new muscles. Realized mid interview that tight shirt was itchy as hell.

For the record, Dee Ford has always been jacked.
It's actually his lower half that needed a little work but if you look at combine pictures of the guy, his upper body has always had that classic V-shape and traps up to his goddamn ears.

Yea he's definitely always been jacked, but there's still a noticeable difference. Even Terez noticed, and he's around those guys every offseason. Hopefully the lower half has improved also.

Good news is he realizes his faults and he's working hard to fix them.
We really need this guy to step up this year. Houston coming off an ACL is no sure thing, Tamba's knees are no guarantee and Zombo is a JAG.
