It's been much discussed in this thread the extreme difficulty schools face when trying to excel in both football and basketball.

That being said I think the acceptance that one will simply be terrible is a really detrimental way to run your athletic program.

I watch the NBA every single night. Almost enough where I'm thinking of getting the cable package.

Nearly every team has one or two young great players to watch and the really good teams (SA, GS, Dallas, Cleve) play at such a high level it's crazy.

In no sport do simple, slight mistakes make such a difference. When people say the NBA plays no defense I laugh. I say "oh they're playing defense, you might not see it, but they're playing it".
