So, I didn't see a thread started, and all the others are pretty maxed out to the point where a fresh thread would be needed soon either way.

Time to share the run up to ST & and another memorable year in the making!

Baseball is such a grind that simply being relaxed can have a huge impact over the course of a season.
I think that's kinda hoot's point too. At least that's how I took it the first time he said it.

Confidence might make them relax some at the plate.

Reread the argument, you missed the target fairly significantly.

I would guess a team like the Royals has a better chance to have some postseason positive vibes build momentum than a team of veterans. Some of these guys were fighting to keep their jobs, and the Royals seemed cursed as an organization. Who knows, but as a Royals fan I feel pretty good about the prospects of Moose snapping out of his "trying way too ****ing hard approach" after the postseason run.

I'd guess the question really boils down to if you believe some of the Royals problems were more mental toughness than lack of ability.

How quickly they forget.

For what it's worth, I've forgiven Alex for not hustling out of the batter's box.

Now I just wish Alex and his teammates would figure out how incredibly foolish it is to insist on sliding headfirst while running the bases. There's no reason to do it, and all it does it make an injury much more likely. In this case, it turned Alex Gordon's MVP season into a season in which he slumped badly in the second half.

Royals To Sign Ryan Madson
By Zach Links [January 4, 2015 at 8:04am CST]
The Royals and Ryan Madson have agreed to a minor league deal, a source tells Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com. The pact includes an invitation to major league spring training.

Madson, 34, hasn’t pitched in the major leagues since 2011 because of elbow issues. In that season, Madson established himself as one of the game’s most promising closers, pitching to a 2.37 ERA with 9.2 K/9, 2.4 BB/9 and a 48.8% ground ball rate in 60 2/3 innings for the Phillies. When a reported four-year, $44MM deal fell through between the two sides, he joined up with the Reds on a much smaller contract, but he never made it to the mound.

Even with his injury woes, teams were still anxious to sign Madson, a reliever boasted a half-decade of strong late inning work. The Halos gave Madson a deal worth $3.5MM in guaranteed money prior to the 2013 season, but he was only able to make one brief Advanced-A appearance all year long. After that, the All Bases Covered client sat out 2014.

The right-hander pitched to a 2.89 ERA with 8.6 K/9 and 2.6 BB/9 in 329 2/3 innings from 2007-2011. In parts of nine seasons with the Phillies from 2003-11, the veteran posted a 3.59 ERA with 7.8 K/9, 2.7 BB/9 and a 47.7% ground ball rate.
Seem interesting?

Yea I meant interesting in a good way. Didn't realize he hadn't really pitched much in all these years. But he used to be very good.

If Ryan Madson comes back to the player he once was our starters only have to pitch 4 innings than it's game over
