I have a bud who was up from Florida last month and he says he has a gluten allergy. Says since he removed it from his diet his skin has cleared up. Swears by it. He has also been into crossfit training for awhile now. I have no problem with wanting to get in shape and eat healthy, but this whole no paleo diet is just the next fad, IMO. I don't believe there is a lot of substance to it. I am definitely gonna share that Jimmy Kimmel video to him.

My wife is a Celiac. Gluten-free isn't a fad diet for her...... if she eats even just a little gluten, she's in hell for about a week.
I don't know why other folks who aren't intolerant or Celiacs insist on going gluten-free. 99% of the time it's probably just so they can feel superior to people who eat gluten. |

Dr. William Davis is responsible for exposing the incredible nutritional blunder being made by "official" health agencies: Eat more "healthy whole grains." The wheat of today is different from the wheat of 1960, thanks to extensive genetics manipulations introduced to increase yield-per-acre. Founder of the international online program for heart health, Track Your Plaque, his experience in thousands of participants uncovered how foods made of wheat actually CAUSED heart disease and heart attack. Eliminating wheat yielded results beyond everyone's expectations: substantial weight loss, correction of cholesterol abnormalities, relief from inflammatory diseases like arthritis, better mood--benefits that led to prevention of heart disease but a lot more benefits in other areas of health.I think wheat can be inflammatory for some. But that's one book that's had an impact agree with the author or not. |

I do know a few people that have cut out gluten and say they have shed some health issues they had before. I don't care about their choices, they don't get in my face about it and I'm not cooking for them.

I'd like the OP to receive the ban hammer for even starting this stupid ass thread.
I have a personal vendetta against the gluten free diet. Oddly enough, I have dated one and know two other true celiacs. I have also experienced the absolute worst of what the health diet aspect of this offers in terms of people and their demands. You think you know the worst of it? You have no ****ing idea. |

Second to dairy, wheat is the next big allergy. Well, that at least, is based on what an allergy specialist told me from their testing. There are people who cannot tolerate wheat products who are either sensitive or allergic to wheat. If it's true 80% have some food allergy or sensitivity but aren't aware of it then I can't see why some are wheat or gluten based. Allergy symptoms, per this allergist anyway, are not limited to sniffles, sinuses but headaches, inflammation and degenerative disease later in life or other health symptoms. It's usually the food you love and tend to overeat which eventually wears out the enzymes used to break that food down. So you get a histamine effect. That's just based on what an allergy specialist told me. So flame away all you want if anyone disagrees.
