I have made a few now, most of them out of Diamond Willow.

Yeah. The top is some spruce layered wood I bought.
One thing I have realized is I need a better and cheaper wood source for building furniture and cabinets with.

We are fortunate here in Missouri to have mills around even though the Chinese have been buying them up and exporting the wood back to China. Several of the guys in my golf league work at one of the more successful mills around here and the owner told me China is a real problem right now as China has a ban on cutting of their own forests. A couple years ago I bought 40 1x8x8' white oak boards for $225, not seasoned of course. Last year I bought 200 1x4x4' cedar boards for $270, once again not seasoned. About 10% of both has been waste. |

Any of you gentlemen ever build a computer desk?
Looking into building one and was curious if any of you had done it or had any suggestions |

I haven't.. although I have actually been converting my desks to use this:
https://www.geekdesk.com/adjustable-...ing-desk-frame I just bought the frames and then used desk tops I already had. A bit expensive though.

Went together pretty cheap. It doesn’t look like a traditional desk but it was cheap and we have 60 acres worth of desk space. Dad cut the toe kicks off his cabinets but I left them of because I’m an ogre. |

I was curious about buying a couple of those cabinets and building off them from there. I might look into that a little more now
I have seen those geek desks before. I like the idea of being able to adjust the height of the desk but damn they do cost more than I thought |

Personally, I'd get a pocket hole jig to start with. Make it easy on yourself rather than jointing everything you don't see anyhow.

Almost always old base cabinets in those stores that you can paint and repurpose for such things, plus your money goes to a good cause and you'll spend less than half of what you'll pay for new ones at a box store. |

I actually do have one of those, don’t have a lot of tools for wood working, but that is one.
Built a few coffee tables before and bought one and it made the 2nd and 3rd table much easier. The 1st table was a couple weeks of pretty much punching myself in the dick over and over |

They are pretty cool. Lots of used household things. Cabinets, boards, windows, doors, appliances, furniture, lighting, etc etc. Plenty of things that can be repurposed. By me they charge about $40-45 for a base cabinet that would normally be $130 new.
