Game of Thrones *Spoiler* Thread
There's been some recent confusion with the old spoiler thread, so I'm kicking off a new one for tonight's premiere. This is going to be the one for folks who've read all the books. So anything anybody might want to talk about is in bounds. Suffice to say, if you haven't read the books, you'll probably want to stay out of here until you do...
I'll bump the old spoiler-free thread shortly in case anybody's interested. For future reference the link to that one is here |

Hard to decide if the scene between Tyrion and Bronn or Tyrion and Oberyn was stronger. Both so good. The Tyrion/Bronn scene did such a good job of showing the mutual respect and even love between two pragmatists in Westeros.
The Oberyn scene is so sad as he spins the tale of meeting Tyrion as a baby then uplifting as he champions Tyrion. One thing that I love that the show did with Oberyn is tha they made him the most amoral and lascivious of characters by modern social standards, yet he is the most heroic at this point in time as well.

But I thought the emotion Tyrion showed when Oberyn said that he would be his champion was the best part of that scene. Amazing scene. |

Tyrion still has a few big scenes coming up this season. If Dinklage can nail them like he has the last two episodes, he will win an emmy...or he should anyway.

Yeah, I thought it would be the end of episode 9, but I read a week or so ago that that whole ep is at the wall. I'm trying to figure out what the big event would be to end that one. Maybe teasing the arrival of Stannis (since it's mentioned in ep 40 "an unexpected arrival north of the Wall changes circumstances). It can't be Jon's naming as lord commander, because that's after Stannis and tied into Jon's refusal to become lord of Winterfell. So what 'oh shit' episode 9 moment does that leave?

I always assumed it was a taint shot but after reading your comment; it dawned on me that Tyrion kills both of his parents by way of the genitals. Closing the loop by wiping out both of his progenitors with the things that they used to create him. Pretty ****ed up and brilliant writing by Martin.

I can already here people bitching about Jon Snow and the Wall getting an entire episode.

Assuming they do the battle right, nobody should be bitching. Hopefully they have enough CGI budget to show 100,000 wildlings including the giants, the mammoths, etc. I'm excited to see what they do with it. Ygritte dying should be the ending I would think, but who knows.

Will the rest of the books even be out before the television series is over?
Last I heard was he was struggling to get the next book finished and his work on the show can't be making it go any faster.
