I know Gannicus is a real person in the history books. He was one of Spartcus's close allies in the rebellion. I don't remember much more about him but surely he wasn't freed and came back to aid the rebellion later?

Loved the second season, enjoyed it as much as the first though it was too short. Looking forward to next season when the gods provide yet another opportunity to shove cock in ass.

I find myself wanting to use the phrase "Jupiter's cock" all the time now.

Another phrase I liked was Battiatus saying, "Finally the gods have seen fit to remove cock from ass". |

After the death of Andy Whitfield due to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a replacement for his notable role in "Spartacus" has been named.
The Aussie actor famous for his for his role in the HBO mini-series, "The Pacific," is billed to replace Andy Whitman's lead role in Spartacus. Liam McIntyre gained worldwide recognition for accurately capturing the persona of Private Lew "Chuckler" Jurgens, a vital character in the Emmy-award winning series. McIntrye starred along Joseph Mazzello, James Badge Dale, and Jon Seda in the epic re-telling of the WWII battles in the Pacific coast produced by none other than Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. McIntyre's role appeared in the episode of the battle Guadalcanal, where he worked the machine gun with Dale's character, Robert Leckie. Before landing his role in The Pacific in 2010, McInintyre frequently appeared in Aussie short and independent films such as "Shotgun! (An Opening Sequence)," "Bottled Up," "Fancy," and "Anniversary". McIntyre also appeared as a guest star in some famous television series like "Rush," and "Neighbours." McIntyre will debut on the show's next season called "Spartacus: Vengeance." According to a report, McIntyre gave the producers the "go signal" and "blessing" to have the Aussie actor continue his legacy in Spartacus. Andy Whitfield died on Sept. 11 after battling with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma since he was diagnosed in March 2010. It shocked and saddened family members and colleagues, since the actor has announced that he was "cancer-free" four months after the initial treatment began. Just last July in the comic con, the "Spartacus" star said he has "never felt better" and "felt younger." "He passed peacefully surrounded by love. Thank you to all his fans whose love and support have help carry him to this point. He will be remembered as the inspiring, courageous and gentle man, father and husband he was." says Whitfield's wife in a press release as reported by TV Line. http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/21218...cus-photos.htm

That's terrible. He was perfect for that role. For someone with obvious gifts, he seemed to be a good and humble guy in the interviews I've seen and read. The point below about no matter your apparent physical strength, cancer does not discriminate.

Stay with it through the first two episodes and it's gold the rest of both seasons.
