Time to call your shot - predict the Chiefs' 2015 record for the season

We've seen about as much as we're gonna see of the team before the games count. I always think it's fun to lock in your predictions before the season. Assuming we can find this thread again in a few months, it will inevitably be bumped to either laugh at or cry about.

Here's the schedule:

Sun, Sep 13 @ Texans 11:00 AM
Thu, Sep 17 vs Broncos 6:25 PM
Mon, Sep 28 @ Packers 6:30 PM
Sun, Oct 4 @ Bengals 11:00 AM
Sun, Oct 11 vs Bears 11:00 AM
Sun, Oct 18 @ Vikings 11:00 AM
Sun, Oct 25 vs Steelers 11:00 AM
Sun, Nov 1 vs Lions 7:30 AM
(bye)
Sun, Nov 15 @ Broncos 2:25 PM
Sun, Nov 22 @ Chargers 6:30 PM
Sun, Nov 29 vs Bills 11:00 AM
Sun, Dec 6 @ Raiders 2:05 PM
Sun, Dec 13 vs Chargers 11:00 AM
Sun, Dec 20 @ Ravens 11:00 AM
Sun, Dec 27 vs Browns 11:00 AM
Sun, Jan 3 vs Raiders 11:00 AM

(Yeah, I'm in a thread-starting mood. Bite me.)

The Green Bay game is a tough one.

They lost nelson. The Chiefs defense really matches up well with the Packers offense. And the Packers defense is bad. Like really bad.

I can never do this poll. I feel guilty guessing anything other than 16-0. It's the preseason. You're supposed to always guess 16-0.

It could go either way. We're definitely capable but playing in Lambeau will be tough. DeVante Adams will fill in well and have a good season as long as Rodgers stays healthy.

The Chiefs don't play the Bengals late and the Bengals are garbage. Red is going to shit his pants against the Chiefs defense.

The Ravens don't have a running game, neither do the Raiders. Pittsburgh is without Bell for the first four games of the year and their defense is old and shot.

Your entire premise is flawed.

The Green Bay game will be tough but they lost Nelson for the year, which negates the loss of Sean Smith and now Cobb is injured. Their defense is a sack of poo, too.

Teams have flaws. Every team the Chiefs face this year won't have the Dallas Cowboys offensive line, Aaron Rodgers at QB, three amazing WR's, DeMarco Murray at TB and the Bills defense.

I'm going with 10-6. We have enough talent to do better, but I'm certain we'll get "Andy'd" in a few. Looking at the schedule, I'll say that we split with Denver and SD, lose on the road vs GB and Baltimore, and lose two others that we should have won (likely Cincy and Pittsburgh).

My premise is not that "The Chiefs will lose all these games because they're late in the season and all of these teams will run at will vs. KC." I picked them to lose 7 because that's what I expect, right now (Taking 5 minutes to do the picks).

I was just pointing that out as one of the flaws fans of another team would assign to the Chiefs. The Chiefs are likely a good but flawed team, just like many of the teams on their schedule.

The Bengals are not garbage. They return all the key parts of a team that was a playoff squad.

When you're a bottom-10 NFL run defense, opposing teams don't have to be a great running team to run the ball effectively against you.

That was my take away. I can see us winning but I have to say loss is more likely.

The Bengals are the worst "good" team I've ever seen, and that includes the 2010 Chiefs.

Run defense seems to be pretty improved throughout the preseason, with guys back from injuries and new players.

An injury-free, firing on all cylinders Chiefs top out at 11/5 and wild card win.

Injuries and/or Smith-regression land the team at 9/7, no play off birth.

The verdict:

10/6, wild card victory.

and how would that make you feel honestly. Would that restore some hope in a chiefs franchise you are down on?

And don't take that as a slight. just empathizing.

I'm hitting the middle of that beautiful bell shaped curve with 10-6. This assumes a few significant injuries. I also don't believe in the offensive line yet.

Even as great as Dick LeBeau is, the past three seasons his defenses has been shit.

Bob Sutton imo is a top Ten dc.

I'm just giving the man props.
Not sure if serious.

So, it was Jemel Fleming, Chris Owens, and Phillip Gaines that stopped the passing. Yeah, Im sure Sean Smith, Husain Abdullah, and Ron Parker just rode the coattails of those boys all season.

Even if your horrific attempt to credit those clowns with being the reason for not allowing a 300 yard passer WAS in fact in all seriousness, your complete lack of acknowledgement of one of the most monstrous pass rushes in the entire ****ing league is beyond criminal.

You don't get many 300 yard passers when the QB is busy getting knocked down, sacked, or hurried into dumpoffs.

Theres no "scheme" behind letting Tamba Hali and Justin Houston off the leash to get after the QB. Its just something that ANY DC in the league with half a moving brain cell does as much as possible.
