Rand Paul Introduces ‘Life at Conception Act’

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul on Thursday introduced the “Life At Conception Act,” saying that the “right to life is guaranteed to all Americans.”

“I plan to ensure this is upheld,” the Republican senator added.

“Sen. Paul introduced S.583, a bill that would implement equal protection under the 14th Amendment for the right to life of each born and unborn human,” the senator’s office said, per a press release.

“This legislation does not amend or interpret the Constitution, but simply relies on the 14th Amendment, which specifically authorizes Congress to enforce its provisions,” his office adds.

Here is what Section 1 of the 14th Amendment states:
No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
The bill has 15 cosponsors (all Republican) including Sens. John Barrasso (Wyo.), John Boozman (Ark.), Richard Burr (N.C.), Daniel Coats (Ind.), Thomas Coburn (Okla.), Michael Enzi (Wyo.), Deb Fischer (Neb.), Charles “Chuck” Grassley (Iowa), John Hoeven (N.D.), James “Jim” Inhofe (Okla.), Mike Johanns (Neb.), Jerry Moran (Kan.), James Risch (Idaho), John Thune (S.D.), and Roger Wicker (Miss.)

“The Life at Conception Act legislatively declares what most Americans believe and what science has long known — that human life begins at the moment of conception, and therefore is entitled to legal protection,” Sen. Paul said.

“The right to life is guaranteed to all Americans in the Declaration of Independence and ensuring this is upheld is the Constitutional duty of all Members of Congress,” he added.

Sorry but, with out the aide of machines, medicine and nurturing care, the people I reference are NOT viable. They are not capable of sustaining life on their own. Pull the plugs and walk away, and they die. The hospital is a quasi-womb.

The analogy fits perfectly wether you care to admit it or not.

No. That is the exact opposite of what I am getting at. My argument is against one person being able to make that decision with out regard to the other party involved.

I am saying men should be allowed to compel women to carry the child to term if they want to keep it. After she pops the kid out she can go on her way. Though she will have to pay child support just as the man would do if the mother wanted to keep it and he didn't.

So the woman would need to seek the man's permission to get an abortion. Do you realize how insanely far from reality this idea is? It may come as a shock to you, but in this country, an adult person's medical procedures are really none of your business, and you have no right to be a father. Good grief.

If you take that stance, than it is only sensible for you to believe that a man who wants the woman to have an abortion, but she doesn't, should be able to opt out of being a father and off its responsibilities.

Could be a lot of reasons for that. It's a complicated issue. I stated my opinion on the matter, and I'm following this thread. But I'm not posting in it all that much because my viewpoint is already being expressed and I am enjoying the discussion. Perhaps he is doing the same thing.
