A little something for the nutjobs - all that ammo
Homeland Security and its cache of bullets
By ALICIA A. CALDWELL | Associated Press 10 hrs ago WASHINGTON (AP) Online rumors about a big government munitions purchase are true, sort of. The Homeland Security Department wants to buy more than 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition in the next four or five years. It says it needs them roughly the equivalent of five bullets for every person in the United States for law enforcement agents in training and on duty. Published federal notices about the ammo buy have agitated conspiracy theorists since the fall. That's when conservative radio host Alex Jones spoke of an "arms race against the American people" and said the government was "gearing up for total collapse, they're gearing up for huge wars." The government's explanation is much less sinister. Federal solicitations to buy the bullets are known as "strategic sourcing contracts," which help the government get a low price for a big purchase, says Peggy Dixon, spokeswoman for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga . The training center and others like it run by the Homeland Security Department use as many as 15 million rounds every year, mostly on shooting ranges and in training exercises. Dixon said one of the contracts would allow Homeland Security to buy up to 750 million rounds of ammunition over the next five years for its training facilities. The rounds are used for basic and advanced law enforcement training for federal law enforcement agencies under the department's umbrella. The facilities also offer firearms training to tens of thousands of federal law enforcement officers. More than 90 federal agencies and 70,000 agents and officers used the department's training center last year. The rest of the 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition would be purchased by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the federal government's second largest criminal investigative agency. ICE's ammunition requests in the last year included: 450 million rounds of .40-caliber duty ammunition 40 million rounds of rifle ammunition a year for as many as five years, for a total bullet-buy of 200 million rounds 176,000 rifle rounds on a separate contract 25,000 blank rounds The Homeland Security ammo buy is not the first time the government's bullets purchases have sparked concerns on the Internet. The same thing happened last year when the Social Security Administration posted a notice that it was buying 174,000 hollow point bullets. Jonathan L. Lasher, the agency's assistant inspector general for external relations, said those bullets were for the Social Security inspector general's office, which has about 295 agents who investigate Social Security fraud and other crimes. Jones the talk-show host did not immediately respond to requests for comment. http://news.yahoo.com/homeland-secur...190840538.html |

![]() Let me say right off the bat that i dont see anything as being imminent, but i do think we're on the wrong path and it doesnt look like its going to be righted anytime soon. Being at work i dont have time to dig into this the way i want to, but just to throw some things out... globalism, corporations that hold no real loyalty to this or any other country, massive data collection centers that spy on their own citizenry, one of which is right there in missouri, a government that seems to grant itself sweeping new powers every few months, government that isnt really "by the people, for the people" anymore, the aforementioned MIC which truly wields incredible power behind the scenes. Thats just the tip of the iceberg of my concerns, i'll have to try to address the specifics when i have more time... there just seems to be an awful lot going wrong in the world today, and no one, no nation looks to be fixing it. As for the ultimate scenario of goverment takeover, i agree with you that its hard to see our military playing along... if something truly bad were to happen i think we'd see a situation like the russian revolution where most of the armed forces would stand with the people... in spite of the fact that i have extreme distrust for much of the establishment that props up our military - defense contractors for instance - i think our military would be our best hope in such a situation. I also dont want to get lumped into the scene where Obama is the devil and is actively causing all of these terrible developments... i actually believe he loves his country and is doing what he thinks is best for it, whether one agrees with his views or not he doesnt hold the power to really effect those kinds of things, neither did Bush nor Clinton etc... they are mostly figureheads in my estimation, accomodating the needs of the biggest of the big money - presidents hands are tied in many ways imo, they have no choice but to be beholden to more powerful interests. Obama has lost his luster to me, he's steering too many debates in the wrong direction imo... but he's no more nor less nefarious than Bush or Clinton. As for fema camps, i've seen many pictures of them, hell Jesse Ventura even took his tv show to one, a massive complex with barrack after barrack, they interviewed the supposed guy in charge through the fence and that guy couldnt give an honest answer about why it was there or what its purpose was, i didnt get the feeling he was hiding anything either... he just really didnt seem to know, he'd get a dumbfounded look on his face. As it was they had a handful of immigrant families staying there who were caught in some kind of visa disputes or something like that, but beyond that there was no discernable reason for the place to exist at all. Anyway, thanks for not dragging this down into some of the other stuff going on in this thread. I dont believe every conspiracy out there at all, when i have more time i'll try to be a bit more detailed and nuanced with my answers. |

Share Homeland Security graduates first Corps of Homeland Youth October 7, 2012. Vicksburg. The federal government calls them FEMA Corps. But they conjure up memories of the Hitler Youth of 1930’s Germany. Regardless of their name, the Dept of Homeland Security has just graduated its first class of 231 Homeland Youth. Kids, aged 18-24 and recruited from the President’s AmeriCorp volunteers, they represent the first wave of DHS’s youth corps, designed specifically to create a full time, paid, standing army of FEMA Youth across the country. On September 13, 2012, the Dept of Homeland Security graduated its first class of FEMA Corps youth, aka the Homeland Youth. Image courtesy of DHS.gov. On September 13, 2012, the Department of Homeland Security graduated its first class of FEMA Corps first-responders. While the idea of having a volunteer force of tens of thousands of volunteers scattered across the country to aid in times of natural disasters sounds great, the details and timing of this new government army is somewhat curious, if not disturbing DHS raising an armed army The first problem one finds with this ‘new army’ is the fact that they are mere children. Yes, 18 is generally the legal age a person can sign a contract, join the military or be tried as an adult. But ask any parent - an 18, 20 or even a 24 year-old is still a naοve, readily-influenced kid. The second problem with this announcement and program is its timing. Over the past two years, President Obama has signed a number of Executive Orders suspending all civil and Constitutional rights and turning over management of an America under Martial Law to FEMA. Also in that time, domestic federal agencies under DHS, including FEMA, have ordered billions of rounds of ammunition as well as the corresponding firearms. Admittedly, these new weapons and ammunition aren’t to be used in some far-off war or to fight forest fires in California, but right here on the streets of America. Strange Armored Fighting Vehicles Individuals around the US have begun reporting the site of strange, new, heavily-armed FEMA fighting vehicles. What would a disaster relief agency like FEMA need with 2,500 brand new GLS armored fighting vehicles? According to the agency’s own mandate, as well as President Obama’s recent Executive Order, the answer is ‘population control’ during a time of Martial Law. One set of images made available by Rense.com shows trailer after trailer carrying these new DHS and FEMA armored fighting vehicles, complete with machine gun slots. They’re labeled with the usual backward American flag and the title, ‘Homeland Security’. Below that and the DHS logo, it also reads, ‘Immigration & Customs Enforcement’. Joining those markings, the black vehicles with white lettering also display ‘POLICE/RESCUE’ on one side and ‘Special Response Team’ on the other. ![]() ![]() FEMA Deputy Administrator Rich Serino gave the keynote address at the ‘Induction Ceremony’ for the inaugural class of FEMA Corps members. According to the DHS website, ‘Corps members assist with disaster preparedness, response, and recovery activities, providing support in areas ranging from working directly with disaster survivors to supporting disaster recovering centers to sharing valuable disaster preparedness and mitigation information with the public.’ Serino describes what the first FEMA Corps class has accomplished so far, as well as where they’ll be going next: ‘Yesterday, we welcomed 231 energetic members into the first ever FEMA Corps class. The members just finished off their first month of training with our partners at the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and are one step closer to working in the field on disaster response and recovery. They will now head to FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness to spend the next two weeks training in their FEMA position-specific roles. Once they complete both the CNCS and FEMA training, these 231 dedicated FEMA Corps members will be qualified to work in one of a variety of disaster related roles, ranging from Community Relations to Disaster Recovery Center support.’ A standing army Unlike most local disaster response teams who are volunteers, training periodically and only showing up when there’s a disaster, the FEMA Corps will be a paid, full time, standing army of government youth. FEMA Deputy Administrator Sarino goes on to explain, ‘The new members, who range in age from 18-24 years old, will contribute to a dedicated, trained, and reliable disaster workforce by working full-time for ten months on federal disaster response and recovery efforts.’ In closing his announcement of the first graduating class of FEMA Corps Youth, Sarino describes his and the agency’s vision of the future, one where ‘FEMA Corps sets the foundation for a new generation of emergency managers’ DHS arms itself As we detailed in the August 28 Whiteout Press article ‘History of DHS Ammunition Purchases’, federal emergency management agencies are looking more and more like a military army every day. The federal government’s procurement website actually lists DHS’ requests for bids to supply it with ammunition and military weaponry. All of the orders listed in the above article, including the orders for hundreds of millions of rounds of ammunition, are publicly available at http://www.fbo.gov. One look at a chart of DHS ammunition purchases over the past decade reveals a drastic spike in orders of bullets recently, totaling in the billions of rounds. Other charts available online show a similar drastic spike in the purchases of accompanying weaponry by the Department of Homeland Security. What is the US federal government preparing for? And why does it feel it needs an army of brainwashed youth, millions of guns, thousands of armored fighting vehicles and literally billions of rounds of ammunition, just to provide relief to the American people during a natural disaster? Any historian will tell you it sounds more like the arming of the Hitler Youth than an army of first responders fighting forest fires and hurricanes. http://www.whiteoutpress.com/article...omeland-youth/ |

One possible scenario is that it could be a take over of not just the country but, the government as well. What if an individual wants to rule sans Constitution, legislator and judiciary? Someone could be attempting to set themselves up to be a supreme ruler type. Yeah yeah, I know, paranoid crack pot conspiracy theory as others keep telling me. But to deny it as a possibility is a huge mistake IMNSHO. Those people do exist. History is littered with them and even the current world we live in has more than its fair share.
