If we got rid of social security and Medicare we'd go back to 1930s style bread lines and people living in Hoovervilles. I suspect crime would skyrocket. We are a civilized society and people would not approve of this.

I'm not hearing any suggestions. We can't keep going like this. We are civilized. But we keep allowing the government to borrow more money. Sooner or later something is going to give. I would much rather take the bull by the horns and do it ourselves than have to get a bailout and have someone else dictate terms. Greece, Italy. Iceland, Ireland, Spain. Any of those countries ring a bell?
