Camera captures Burger King customer's attack

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. (WSVN) -- Officials have released surveillance video of a woman who attacked an employee at a fast food restaurant because of her order.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, 38-year-old Tara Lyons was seen on surveillance video going on the attack over an order at the Burger King located in the 4000 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard in Lauderdale Lakes. The incident occurred on March 2, just past 7 a.m. "She thinks that someone has spit in her sandwich, so she goes to complain to the manager," said BSO's Dani Moschella. "The manager says, 'OK, I'll give you your money back.' It was $1.06. When the manager turns to go get the money, the woman, still enraged, throws the sandwich at her and hits her in the back."

After Lyons threw her sandwich at the manager, the two women are seen arguing on the surveillance video. According to police, Lyons lost control. "The customer then tries to come over the counter. The manager, fearing for her own safety, pushes her back, and the customer falls on the floor. I think, at this point, she gets a cut on her head," said Moschella.

Moschella said Lyons' rampage was still not over. "The customer still argues, of course, gets up and just starts going crazy," she said. "She starts throwing condiments and napkins. There is a coffee pot filled with coffee on the counter, and she pushes that over. She then tries to go around and to get in through the manager's door that's locked."

Burger King Manager Janet Javis then calls police while two other employees deal with Lyons. Police then arrived on the scene and caught up with Lyons as she walked back over to nearby Florida Career College, where she attends class.

Lyons was then questioned by police and taken to a nearby hospital to treat the cut on her face. She was then arrested.

Lyons faces one charge of battery and burglary with assault, along with two charges of aggravated assault.

DETROIT (WJBK) - A Detroit man says his business is being held hostage by a group of teenagers who continually loiter inside and out of his gas station.

"There's a lot of good people around here," said the station owner, who wished to remain anonymous. But now, those good people aren't coming as often to the Marathon station along W. 7 Mile Road on the city's west side.

"This is a Bad Crew gas station," said one teen loitering out front on Tuesday. When asked what that meant, he said, "If you don't know, I can't even tell you."

Surveillance video obtained by FOX 2 shows as many as a dozen teens hanging out inside the store, smoking cigarettes, sitting on countertops and even spitting into sinks.

The owner says as many as 40 teens can be hanging out in front of the station at any time. "Destroying my store. Destroying my business," said the owner.

He says his clerks are too frightened to take action against the teens and he's worried that the loitering could lead to violence.

Detroit police have been called numerous times to the store, but the owner says right after officers disperse the crowd and leave the scene, the teens returns to their normal posts.

Leslie Cunningham, who lives nearby the station, says members from Marvin Winans' Perfecting Church have recently been to the station to talk to the young people. "It's out of hand," said Cunningham. "We try to raise young people around here that they would be concerned and care about their area and this is what we have to contend with."

The owner, and father of four, says he would walk away from his business if he didn't owe so much on it.

Meanwhile, he keeps working and keeps hoping that the teens decide to leave.

Detroit police tell FOX 2 they'll continue to respond to calls from the station. The owner says he may hire an off-duty officer to help keep his business secure during peak hours.

Holder Brags About Burning 3,000 Bankers At the Stake

In an end-of-year press release — posted under the banner headline "Accomplishments Under the Leadership of Attorney General Eric Holder" — the Justice Department boasts of charging "nearly 3,000" bankers with lending discrimination and fraud.

If all of them were guilty, this would be quite an accomplishment. Few would argue that prosecuting racists to the fullest extent of the law would be something worth crowing about.

But none of the race-bias cases highlighted by the administration was litigated in court. Evidence was never presented or tested, nor guilt ever proven. What's more, no incident of discrimination was ever specified, and no individual complainants or victims of discrimination were ever identified.

All the major defendants — Bank of America, Wells Fargo and SunTrust Mortgage — settled while strongly denying Holder's allegations that they charged blacks and Latinos a "racial surcharge" for mortgages simply because of the color of their skin.

In court documents, they argued that if Holder's civil-rights prosecutors conducted an "appropriate analysis" of their loan data and loan-file documentation, it would have shown no disparate impact in product placement against African-Americans or Hispanics. They argued that any differences in loan pricing were attributable to legitimate, nondiscriminatory factors, such as poor credit.

When one defendant recently fought back in court, the administration admitted in a little-noticed court filing that, indeed, it had not considered all the credit factors that went into the lender's decisions to charge higher rates for loans to minorities whose credit history left them unqualified for prime loans.

GFI Mortgage Bankers Inc. last summer asked a federal judge to dismiss a lending discrimination complaint filed by Holder. The New York-based lender argued that the government failed to establish a link between its policies and lending disparities outlined in the suit.

When Justice opposed GFI's motion, it revealed a serious flaw in its "statistical regression analyses" used in almost every race-bias case filed against lenders under this administration.

It acknowledged that its models do not account for all factors related to borrowers' credit risk and loan characteristics — factors that could explain disparities in loan pricing by race.

In the court filing, Justice Department official Thomas Perez, chief of the civil-rights division, said the sum total of the government's proof was "statistical evidence" that did not include all elements of creditworthiness. But he argued that the government did not need to control "all measurable variables" to prove discrimination, that it "need not prove discrimination with scientific certainty."

Blacks in Birmingham have now obtained equal rights, special protection for those rights, preferential enforcement of those rights, a demographic majority, and a near monopoly on government employment. Moreover, that panoply of rights and benefits is funded by the nation's highest sales tax. The results should be a progressive success story.

Chicago media are running out of ways to avoid talking about black mob violence.

Over the weekend, 500 black people rampaged through several Chicago neighborhoods: beating, pushing and attacking police and tourists and residents. Even a police horse.

This is just the latest of more than 50 cases of black mob violence in Chicago alone over the last three years, documented in the book “White Girl Bleed a Lot: The return of racial violence and how the media ignore it.”

Many not too much different than this.

“This was a planned attack,” said Andrew Holmes, a community activist who witnessed the mayhem and described it to ABC news. “Because you had this many people down here running down the street. Jumping on people on the East Side, then coming back on the West Side. You had a lot of mob action going on.”

I caught the tail end of a story about some kind of fraud in NY today involving Bloomberg & a couple others. Thats about all I heard. Not sure what kind of fraud.
