Belcher took the cowards way out, but if you think this tragedy makes Arrowhead a friendly place to work you are so far from reality it isnt even funny. |

I'm astounded. Some of this shit is cruel and abhorrent. I don't like Scott Pioli. I don't like his management style or his football decisions. I don't like his apparent arrogance. I protested and held up a sign with his face and "FRAUD" written above it. But if he were in the same room as me right now, I'd buy hin a non-alcoholic beer and give him the mother of all man hugs.

It certainly feels odd to say after all thats went down this year, but yeah, my heart goes out to Scott & Romeo big time, what an awful thing to witness.
And as others have said, they certainly deserve no blame for it. |

People trying to blame Pioli for this is like blaming AJ Smith for Seau's suicide. Just stop it.

I guess that was the point of this thread. This incident is a real-life situation, obviously. So I ask if you allow those real-life emotions cross into your football fandom world? Do you still hate Pioli today...or do you feel for the guy what he witnessed and wish for him to succeed to some degree for the remainder of the season? Or are you able to separate the two, feel for the man...but still call for his firing?

I don't care either way really. I don't know Belcher personally. Stuff like this happens to hundreds of people daily...to people I don't know. Only difference is Belcher is on TV and plays a game for a team I root for. It's a horrible thing to happen for sure...but I don't feel any different as I would had this happened to Joe Schmoe in Hew Hampshire, etc.

You all jump me for saying a deranged individual who runs an organization into the ground and brings in another deranged individual and has him in said organization that is being run into the ground didnt add to a deranged individuals psyche?
Look, Pioli didnt deserve to see this, nor Crennel if that is indeed how it went down. I feel bad for them both. But I refuse to believe any one crazed person doesnt rub off on another. |

I feel for Pioli as the person who had to go through this ordeal from a boss standpoint and from someone who had to witness it. I don't feel for bad for Pioli the GM running the Chiefs. Both are different situations. I know this is horrible to say but Pioli's job better not be safe due to this horrible ordeal... in the long run it may NOW be better off for him to get away from KC period.

I agree with this post. But what Belcher did this morning is 100% personal. He murdered his girlfriend and probably decided pretty quickly that he was gonna end his own life after he did it. So what does he do? Drives to Arrowhead to thank Pioli and Crennel for everything. That doesn't sound like his job with the Chiefs had anything to do with what happened. In fact, it makes it sound like his role with the Chiefs and those he worked with were one of the best things in his life. It meant enough to him to acknowledge Pioli and Crennel and say goodbye to them before implementing his "exit strategy". THe fact that he chose to spend his last moments on this earth with them and utter his last words with those people tells me he probably liked them.

Obviously, I have empathy for everyone involved. This is a tragedy and our thoughts should be on the human element here, even with people we want gone from the front office. We can't know whether the pressure of a failed season and front office added to the troubled mind of Belcher.
I will root for the Chiefs to play well the rest of the season. I don't think we should fly the banner this one week. Nevertheless, it will be my hope that the Chiefs (despite playing well) lose the next 3 games to Carolina, Browns and Raiders, secure the first pick and then beat the Colts and Broncos to end the season on a higher note. |

It is terrible that Pioli and Romeo had to witness the event. However, given the magnitude of the event, he probably exhibited symptoms prior to this event. People very rarely just go do this type of thing without notice. As his leaders they had it within their power to intervene to prevent such an action, and failed to do so. This post will probably bring me a lot more grief than it's worth, but even the army is putting the emphasis on leader and peer awareness and intervention. I don't see how it should be any different in a football organization.
