Get real. It's the Chiefs. They're 1-10. It didn't look bad for Kyle Orton when he told them he wasn't interested. It looked bad for the CHIEFS.

He can go home and sit for 5 games - his contract balloons so they'll have no choice but to cut him and let him become a free agent. Then he can go to the Patriots and compete for a Super Bowl.

That's a lot for a guy that contributes as little as he does. It's the perfect leverage for him to take less money and land on a team that isn't a ****ing shit hole like the Raiders or Chiefs.

Link? While I did hear something about Orton wanting to go to Chicago, I never actually saw anything that said he did not want to play in KC.

Orton told several people that he had no interest in remaining in KC after the 2011 season. Do a search, it's well-documented here.

Oh really it is stupid to bring a guy in on the cheap to see if he can help our team. To see if a change can make a difference. If not then you let him walk. If it does work out then 4 mil is not HUGE or you rework his deal.

I don't care about Orton. Where is he starting now? Yep. He'd be the starter in KC had he stayed.

You're missing the point.

McLain said he want's the play for a REAL TEAM.

That $4M base salary next year IS huge, in terms of leverage. He needs the Chiefs even less than they need him.

If he reports, they're going to use him for 5 games and either cut him or force him to take a pay cut. Either way, he's not getting paid $4M next year.

He can accelerate the process by refusing to report and in the process, ensure he doesn't have to play for a clown show like the Chiefs.
