Sutter has had moments where he's done some great writing.

But there are times that he gets caught in this rut and just can't escape it (This whole clay\Jax thing and having to "prove" anything to the club about clay when everyone knows what he's done on multiple levels is simply absurd).

They are collecting "evidence" to bring to the table, but only after Jax gets them out of the shit they are in with the Cartel. As far as Jax knows, he still needs Clay alive to get weapons from the Irish.
