Someone's wealth doesn't make others poor. If anything increases the income gap, it's Keynesian economics coupled with crony capitalism ( modern mercantilism) which both parties adhere to. Socialism will just make the gap worse. It's not a viable solution. It only seems that way at first.

Why do we issue food stamps anyway? The seem like such a waste of resources: Printing them, storing them, distributing them etc. Why don't we just have food banks run by local churches and charities where people can come and get some bread, milk, rice and MREs?

MRE's are expensive even on the black-market / surplus stores so donations would be low. Maybe they could hand out a bag of potatoes, but that's pushing it. All these parasites need to line up to get neutered and stop expecting the working folks to provide for them.

So because someone has these religious restricts they have to abide by (and I don't), my tax dollars go towards helping them feed their family of six children instead of my money going into a college fund for my two children I chose to have. And I suppose it is my fault that I have waited to have kids until after I finished school and obtained a well paying job.
