(Hmm, baseball-reference.com lists this average, but the baseball almanac lists him at .331. I'm curious.) Edit: Baseball-reference includes five years of stats from a professional league other than Major League Baseball. Or maybe it was a name that predates the whole National League/American League breakdown. It was five seasons from 1871 to 1875, with the Rockford Forest Cities and the Philadelphia Athletics. Baseball Almanac starts with his career in the National League in 1876 when he joined the Chicago White Stockings.
