Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

I think I posted in this thread fairly recently that I actually turned it off. "Isn't that funny" doesn't even begin to cover it.

I've only seen it once. And Steve Carrell is the funny part IMO.

Carrell had a scene in Bruce Almighty where I actually had tears coming down in the theater. It was when his voice was taken over by Bruce.

Also, as far as brainless recent comedies go, Stepbrothers is a guilty pleasure. "We literally have never done any of those things."

You have to turn off your brain for all of Ferrells movies. He's the best thing since Jim Carrey though.

I just watched Hunger Games. It was good, I guess, even though it was fairly shallow and some of the characters were dumb as dirt, but I don't like the direction it takes. I'd rather we as a society not lose the taboo against showing children get killed for our entertainment.

If you can deal with the played out shaky cam style, this is a pretty trippy movie. It's a horror anthology (think 5 short stories). Lots of blood, guts and boobs.

saw the new Bourne movie

it was better and worse than I expected...it was actually traveling along pretty good and then ends with what feels like the 2nd act...major anti-climax, imo

should have been about 2/3 through a good movie...

up to that point I liked how they were developing it, in spite of not being a big Renner fan, and in spite of some eye-rolling science...

Rachel Weisz was excellent, and gets hotter as she ages...

Yup. Fantastic movie as far as action goes. No slow-mo bullshit -- all fast, live action.

  • Ferrell: Stranger Than Fiction, Everything Must Go

  • Carrey: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Man on the Moon, Truman Show

I like Ferrell probably the least of all of them. He's the only one I'll actually leave the room for.

You can stand Chris Farley? Go kill your ****ing self

I'd given up on that movie franchise. First one was funny, all went down hill from there.
