President Obama attributed the high unemployment rate to the size of the government payroll — which is not big enough, he explained, due to congressional Republicans.

President Obama said Friday the “private sector is doing fine,” in a press briefing.

Last week the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced unemployment rose to 8.2 percent in May after the economy added only 69,000 jobs–less than half of what some economists had expected.
