Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon? Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? Part 2: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=293623 Last edited by Bearcat; 07-28-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

LOL, you reminded me of a Kalashnikov inverview I saw on Discovery. He basically said that the AK-47 was the perfect war rifle and that they AK-74 was the Soviets blindly following the US. I will post the interview when I find it.

Qualifying at the range next week with my M&P 40 and shotgun. It's going to be a fun week. Hundreds of free rounds ready to be fired by me.

Sorry, AK-74 uses a 5.45mm bullet. My mistake.

7.62x51mm 280 rounds 7.62x39mm 360 rounds 5.56x45mm 660 rounds Nearly 2X the ammo? Yea I'm going 5.56mm While the 7.62 hits harder, it can't hit if you're out of ammo!

Still I'm also buying the Colt SP901 when it comes out!

Damn, that's a lot more than I ended up shelling out for my refridgerator mishap. But in any event, I feel your pain.

Still haven't been lucky enough to get an AR. My wife is still saying no...until now. She says I can get one at the end of the month.
There's a dealer an hour from me offering the Panther Oracle w/ A3 carry handle and A2 front sights, 2-30 rnd mags and a hard case for $756 tax included. It doesn't have a front mount for a sling though. Which I want a sling. or http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...ducts_id/61620 I have to call on Monday and see if it comes with mags and a case. This one with insurance is $823. or http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...s_id/411537957 This only comes with one mag and no case or carry handle. The carry handle is $30 on amazon but it's got a few mixed reviews mixed in with great reviews. I'd have to buy a case, handle, sling, and mag for it which would bring the total above the oracle but slightly below the other DPMS. What's a better option? She gave me permission for either of those options. |

On a side note.
I picked up a 8 gun gun safe today at a garage sale. It's not fire proof but it does lock which is good enough for now. It also came with a pistol safe which was big enough for both pistols, all my .40 ammo and both pistol cases. Bought that baby for $25. |

Guns aren't for little boys, unless of course they've grown up in war-torn nation. Even in those situations, however, those little boys need to be men. |

Buying a gun without her permission=no sex.
Buying a gun with her permission=continued sex. Option #2 sounds better. |

As for the hard case, my DPMS came with one that was specifically fitted to the rifle. The minute I put a red dot on it the case became useless. If the hard case isn't fitted, that would be fine, but IMO you're better off getting a soft case with magazine slots. Also, keep in mind that you will probably add stuff to it over time, so get a bigger case than you need right now - I initially got a soft case that fit perfectly, but as soon as I added the Magpul ACS stock it was too small. Also, the magazines that come will the rifle will probably suck. Get Magpuls. |

Another thing to think about - one of the first things you'll probably want to upgrade is the hand guard - if you do so, I suggest getting something with a low profile gas block. That way you can get a longer free float guard and won't have to replace the gas block later. I would not want the one with the tall fixed front sight.

Yeah, that's the third swing'n dick to get killed this summer around here, by a grizzly. In this case, some out of state dipshit, thought he was shooting a "black bear" wrong! Dipshit shoots grizzly, grizzly runs off ALL PISSED OFF! Grizzly runs into dudes buddy and opens up a can of whoop ass on him, until dude is taking dirt nap. Reminds me of a print I own by Bev Doolittle called "Doubled Back." (Sorry but, dumb ****) Dude one has to shoot black/ooops grizzly bear, numerous times to kill it, but to late for his buddy.

If you were in my shoes would you go any of those routes? The carry handle is an absolute must as is a sling mount and collapsible stock. Would it be best to get an A2 upper and a scope to the handle? Would that make it easier for coyote hunting/keep my wife satisfied with the handle. Can both of those be zeroed in? Or each time I take off the scope I'd have to residue it and residue the iron target. |
