John Kerry: Secretary of State?

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...yJQ&refer=home

"Massachusetts Senator John Kerry is lobbying for secretary of State, although Obama has been cautioned that would be received negatively by many Republicans."

What do you think about this? I remember Kerry's "passing the global test" line from the debates. I wonder if Obama subscribes to the same test.

Kerry would not be an exciting pick, to say the least.

If that is correct (Robert Kennedy Jr.) then that is great news. Kennedy is extremely well qualified in environmental matters. And I believe he will adopt a pragmatic and practical approach, not some insane ultra-left wing whacko approach.

First, could you delineate what you consider pragmatic v whacko?
Second, could you give some info that led you to this conclusion?

Last thing I saw was him running point on one of his nieces pet project documentaries pressuring to shut down Indian Point, even though it's a well run facility, because it's too close to Manhattan.

I'll even do him the courtesy of letting him lay out a few of his aspirations in his own terms. http://www.riverkeeper.org/campaign.php

He's already a step beyond 'clean coal or bankruptcy' to 'no coal, no more, no how, no such thing as clean coal.' The one energy resource we have an advantage in.

So, no coal, no nuclear, stop using oil. I see a lot of pain in the offing.

The Daily News reported last week that Obama will run a turbocharged transition. The FBI has vetted scores of job candidates, but Team Obama has signaled Tuesday it wants to be careful.

"Sen. Obama has thought this through," said top adviser David Axelrod on MSNBC last night. "I think he will move as quickly as he can, but I think he's also going to be deliberative about it and make sure that he gets the right people in the right slots.

"These folks are going to have an enormous task in front of them. You want to make sure you get it right. So speed has its virtues, but getting it right is also important, and I think he will strike a balance moving forward."
