My guess is they think they can win the super bowl with this cast... with Mahomes. He is the final piece. |

Alex Smith is not a franchise qb not even close. Alex Smith is the perfect stop gap qb, someone who can win you a few games, maybe even take you to a playoff game here and there. What Alex Smith can't do and is the most important reason why he's not a franchise qb is he will not win you a game when it counts.

Legit franchise QB's such as Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, etc. don't require elaborate contortions of statistical analysis to prove that they are franchise QB's.
Alex Smith Apologists should ask themselves why Alex Smith's on field performance doesn't sell itself, in terms of convincing people that he is a franchise QB. |

Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Maclin when he was healthy. Then lesser guys like Ware, Conley, etc and all Alex Smith can put up is 15 tds, 15 of them. That is not franchise qb.

What's the definition of a 'read' and a franchise QB then? You don't get to be a starting QB for ten years and have six straight seasons of winning if your GM doesn't consider you to be a franchise QB.
Oh the deplorables on CP are so fun to talk to... |

Just curious... How many QBs drafted since 2005 have a better win percentage than Smith and have as many starts as him?
All he does is win. Fact. |
