Jimmy Spencer was a riot...His actions on the track were legendary. Drivers knew that if they messed with him, they could very easily have ended up with hitting the wall at 180 mph - even before safer barriers were installed to reduce the impact.

Spencer was incredibly entertaining. He goes by the nickname "Mr Excitement."

Michael Annett, a driver in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, will be out indefinitely after suffering a broken sternum in Saturday's race at Daytona International Speedway, his team said Tuesday.

Annett, 26, was scheduled to have surgery after doctors in North Carolina determined he had fractured and dislocated his sternum, or breastbone, Richard Petty Motorsports said.

Aric Almirola was tapped to drive Annett's No. 43 Ford at the Nationwide Series race this Saturday at Phoenix International Raceway in Arizona.

Annett was part of a multicar crash near the end of last Saturday's race, with Annett's car slamming head-on into Daytona's outside wall.

The crash preceded the last-lap wreck in which Kyle Larson's car flew into the grandstand fence near the finish line, injuring more than two dozen spectators.

Serious injury. Wish him a speedy recovery. He clearly has talent.
