HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2 Skips THE INTERVIEW, Time Travels to February

This isn’t all that surprising. Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is now foregoing its original December 25th, 2014 release date and moving to February 20th. This makes sense for a few reasons, the first of which is that it needs to get out of the way of Seth Rogen and James Franco‘s The Interview, which is shaping up to be something of a comedic juggernaut (at least in terms of my perception – it feels like awareness is high for that one). Also telling? My first thought when I saw this news was, “that was supposed to come out on Christmas?” It doesn’t feel like they’ve been aggressively marketing the movie (aside from the trailer) and I feel like February is safer ground for this franchise anyway.

Paramount also moved Scouts vs. Zombies from that date and placed it on October 30th, 2015, also a move of confidence in that horror comedy it looks like. Steve Pink‘s sequel stars Clark Duke, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, and Chevy Chase, with Adam Scott playing a new part to fill the void left by John Cusack. Truth? I’ll definitely be seeing Hot Tub Time Machine 2 in February.
