True statement, but a great alternative is just renting the high-end glass for special occasions. I'm a huge fan of borrowlenses.com, and I would recommend them to anyone that has a DSLR. It's a great way to get the use of pro glass when you need it (or just trying out different lenses) without tying up the capital.
