Those of you who want to trade for Hellickson, aren't thinking straight. Hellickson is Jair Jurjjens. He's a career implosion waiting to happen.
Hellickson has xFIP (adjusted fielding independent pitching) rates in the Luke Hochevar range. Seriously, Hellickson doesn't miss enough bats and his BABIPs are way too good to give up anything of quality for him.
Hellickson is 25 and has four more years of cost control with ERAs of 2.95 and 3.13. WHY IS THIS GUY AVAILABLE?
The Rays know Hellickson is the product of a good amount of luck plus playing in front of a very good defense. He's fools gold.
THere are very few Mark Buerhle's who consistently post low BABIPs through their career. Hellickson is the anti-Paulino, a guy that has posted unusually low BABIPs that don't match up with his peripherals.
