The 3d combined with the large screen and the cavernous emptiness of the large room help modify the enormity of what is occurring on the screen. It is well worth the extra money. Totally 2nd this advice, and would add that I think it's better to sit a little closer to the screen than you typically are used to. I sat about a 1/3 of the way up- essentially trying to cover my peripheral vision.
