If I'm reading this article correctly, it appears that the culprit is currently serving time in prison. Nevertheless, he somehow convinced two acquaintances to commit foul murder and even fouler manbag chopping. Then, in what was assumably an uncontrollable spasm of conscience, he gave up the entire plot to the authorities.

My question is this; how is it possible that a guy who has already been busted and is rotting away behind bars, can persuade two other guys to commit murder for him? I mean, this dude must be the most convincing conspirator in the history of Amerikan politics. What kind of influence could he possibly have over his accomplices to compel them to do this evil deed? It's equally puzzling and amazingly strange.

I think you're giving this guy too much credit. He probably picked up the phone, dialed a random number, and said "I'm looking for someone to kill and castrate Justin Bieb..." and was cut off by the person on the other end saying "I'm in".
