Since not all teams are in the playoffs, we can't use actual records to determine playoff availability for all players. Instead if a player is out during week 16 we determine whether they will return in subsequent weeks by chance. Evidently, Ngata's injury in the Sandbox universe was somewhat serious.

Fair enough and I won't offend the Sandbox gods but I'm pretty sure they were resting Haloti that last week for sore knees heading into the playoffs....
edit: I just think this is worth discussing since playoff bound teams that hold out star players for minor ailments in week 17 can have some rather serious implications for Sandbox teams if the roll of fate turns against them and they lose said player for the playoffs.
