Your analogy described going to a specific site and telling the members that the subject of their site is stupid. That's not what's happening here, since this is an american football board and the discussion in this thread is soccer.
Perhaps a better analogy would be going to VeganPlanet, making a post about BBQ ribs, and then expecting the vegans not to post disparaging remarks.
