As to the fitbit thingie...I am a small watch whore. Just small. I only have 10 watches. Dress, sport, skeleton etc. The skeletons' intrigue me the most. I have a buddy that is seriously addicted, 14k for a watch:

These "fitbit" thingies would suit you well. I have a Garmin vivofit 2. It is small, shows minimal data, time/date/steps/goal of steps/miles/calories. There are some that have heart rate monitors et al. The "fitbit", as I understand just shows a red light when you hit a mile marker...1k steps. Then you look at your smart phone that shows all others. My buddy wears his 14k watch on his left hand and the simple fitbit on his right hand.
I am not sure why you need a GPS in Denver...maybe whilst running or not to get lost??. But I like to know (I am trying to lose lbs) how many steps I take/day. Just information. To me, this is not a fad, but health info.
