If someone is close enough to smell me, they are catching my crotch more than they are catching my underarms. Smell is caused by molecules. Showering actually removes those scent molecules. Deodorants are masking agents, they don't remove the molecules. If I smell someone's deodorant, coming from their arm pits, I know they are masking some crotch molecules too. My policy is too keep a respectable space bubble to keep my underarm and crotch molecules out of your nostrils (at least below detection limit). And I appreciate it if you afford the same courtesy to me.
My wife is the only person I really want in my space bubble. I can put up with her scent molecules since there are offsetting benefits.
