I would get a journal for you and your wife to fill out with logs stating specific symptoms, at what time, when you go to sleep, pertinent factors. What you described could be an isolated idiopathic event, or it could be something else.
The key to an accurate diagnosis is a good history.
I would also recommend following
good sleep practices.
