But I think the standard for 'bigotry' or 'stereotyping' should be if the medium is presented in a manner that trends the viewer to muse that there is a broader 'type' of person that acts much like the character on an ethnic basis.
ie, if you watch the movie and see the bad guy as a singular character, it one thing, and it's another altogether if you see the bad guy as representing a broader type. Compare the character of Hannibal Lecter to Mookie in DtRT.

An Education seems to do trend the viewer to muse about broader type. Every ugly line about Jewish behavior from the non-Jewish characters is validated by the Jew in this film, a Jew that talks about himself in such a way that he represents the Jewish people.
