ie, if you watch the movie and see the bad guy as a singular character, it one thing, and it's another altogether if you see the bad guy as representing a broader type. Compare the character of Hannibal Lecter to Mookie in DtRT.
Excellent post. Yes. I agree. And I think that's usually the stance I take, and the point of view I come from. That's a large part of the reason that I don't see An Education as a hateful film.
