It's real simple.

9/11 happens and the team named the Patriots win the SB. What a coincidence.
Katrina destroys New Orleans and the Saints win the SB. What a coincidence.

Manning is the long time face of the league and in his last year he wins the SB after playing massively bad football. What a coincidence.

I bet there have been numerous champs and in that year they generated the most revenue with merchandise sales.
