But, I'm not sure the argument here is necessarily about jaw strength, but more about the persistence of the bite. It just seems that Pitbulls are easily agitated and when they get those jaws on you they damn near die before letting go.

Ummm The persistence of the bite and jaw strength are tied directly together.
Their jaws are like a vice. They can clamp down twice as hard as any other breed. They shatter bones.
I don't dislike pitbulls, but I'm weary of them because when agitated they are
far more dangerous than other breeds of dog.
The reality is that Pits have been bred for aggressiveness for generations and still are not, naturally, an aggressive dog.
Border collies are far more aggressive naturally, but they simply can't do the damage that a pitbull can do.
